30.06 signs can come down

Post by Papa_Tiger »

A restaurant that I and my wife frequented on dates posted both 30.06 and 30.07 signs after New Years, one in the window to the left of their entrance and one to the window to the right of their entrance. Last week, as I was driving by on my way to work, I noticed that only the right side sign was still up. I stopped by this morning to see which sign had been removed and the only one left standing was the 30.07. My wife and I will have to celebrate by giving them our business again!

That's great, I know there is some debate regarding whether to post the names of the businesses that have removed one or both signs, due to the chances of the anti crowd contacting them, but I think we should give them props so that they can know that by doing so, will bring our business back.

I took my wife out for dinner to this restaurant last night and had a very nice little chat with the manager thanking her for taking down the 30.06. She informed us that there was a significant effort on the part of the employees there to remove the 30.06 and leave the 30.07 because "out of sight, out of mind". She personally expressed discomfort with openly carried firearms, but said that she was OK if she didn't know they were there. We expressed our understanding of her viewpoint and again thanked them for taking the 30.06 down and made sure she understood that is why we came back.

She said she would pass the info along to the owner of the restaurant.

Good job on the chat with the manager. They probably got pressured by some anti-gun bullies into putting the sign up. Showing compassion and thanking them for taking down the 30.06 was definitely a good thing for us. People need to know that we're out there and we care about their business decisions.
Keep calm and carry.

THIS!!!!

"Expressing understanding" does NOT mean that you agree with that opinion. It merely means that the other person has clearly communicated their viewpoint and you understood what he/she said, and agree to be respectful of it while on their property. "Being respectful of it" does NOT mean that you automatically enter their property anyway. It merely means that your respect will take the form of either complying with posted signage, attempting a CALM and rational discussion to try and educate them, or taking your business elsewhere if a sign is posted which offends your sensibilities.

This is how adults deal with one another. Children huff and puff, whine and moan, and hyperventilate, thinking that if they just harass the other person enough, that person will cave in. If the other person is an adult, they'll ignore you until you go away, and they won't much care if you don't come back. If they are also a child, they'll give you the same business in return. Either way, the protesting child doesn't get what they want. But if you act like the adult peer of the business owner, you just might get what you're after. But that requires the application of logic and patience.
