"I was just notified that you have posted a 3006 sign prohibiting concealed hand gun carry in your restaurant. As long as this sign remains up I will not patronize your restaurant. A criminal intent on doing harm will not obey that sign and as a law abiding citizen I have lost the right to defend myself in your restaurant.
As a License to Carry holder, I have been finger printed, passed a back ground check, committed no felonies and received training on firearms safety just to receive my license. How much information do you know about the rest of your customers? Statistics from the past 20 years show that someone with a license is far less likely to break the law than the general population, and even less likely to commit an offense than a law enforcement officer.
Please give serious consideration to removing the 3006 sign."
I don't know what impact my e mail made in the decision to remove the sign as other people complained to management as well. Texas3006.com has several comments from users about their discussions with Zeeks over the sign. One of the comments alludes to they may have just put up both signs without understanding the differences.
If we as a community can continue to respectfully inform businesses that have posted 30.06 since open carry has received so much attention about what the signs actually mean and the impact of restricting CC then we may be able to get more removed. We will never get them all removed, but each one taken down is a victory!
