Aparently, this story is originally from 2013. It keeps getting rehashed through various news sites. I can't find a follow-up story. Everything just points back to when it happened back then. My Google-fu is not strong tonight.

However, a quick search on the Alabama dept of corrections site shows that the robber, Adric Wite, was incarcerated in 2015 and is serving a 40 year sentance. http://www.doc.state.al.us/InmateHistory.aspx

One article I read say the armed robber was out on bail for an armed robbery he committed the month before he got shot. As the cliche goes "You can't fix stupid".
