Son Charged With Murder For Killing His Mom’s Attacker

Mom's boyfriend starts beating on her. The 15 year old gets a firearm (type not mentioned) and puts a few rounds into the boyfriend, this saving Mom from a severe beating. Boy is arrested for 2nd degree murder, as if he hasn't been through enough already.

Upon reading the article it seems that the charge is "standard" until they decide if they wish to pursue more accurate charges...such as manslaughter...or drop charges...whatever. I doubt if this is the first, hours-long argument the couple had...and likely there was physical participation by both. Both...willing combatants...neither backing down. Son got tired of the boy friend...bang.
