GAMA firearm policy
It seems a lot of the small stores in the Austin area that are members of the Greater Austin Merchants Assoc are putting up both 30.06 and 30.07 signs. Were the stores "told" or "coerced" to do this by the GAMA? Has this topic been covered in another thread? And has anyone had contact with the GAMA? Thanks.

It's Austin. Do the people there (including store owners) really need to be "coerced" into being anti-freedom?
Re: GAMA firearm policy
This topic has been discussed (not specific to GAMA) but The MDA and other blooming idiots were out in force going to Chambers of Commerce, and other business associations and telling them that if they don't post the signs, then there would be boycotts, hoards of crazy armed gunmen with ARs and AKs at the ready, invading their stores and terrorizing the customers, and that both signs were required to prevent all of these things. They seem to have been most prolific in spreading their lies in cities like Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. There are some places in the DFW who fell prey to their rhetoric. They also targeted businesses that rely heavily on female consumers. Fortunately, some of the management for these establishments, actually took the time to educate themselves on the law, and then could decide if they only wanted to prohibit open carry, or not post at all. Unfortunately, some of the tactics from those who shall not be named, helped to instill more fear into others. And a large majority of their demonstrations took place in Austin.Rpenn57 wrote:It seems a lot of the small stores in the Austin area that are members of the Greater Austin Merchants Assoc are putting up both 30.06 and 30.07 signs. Thanks Jusme. I don't live in Austin but close enough so that their "policies" bleed over to nearby communities.

Tell the manager that they have a great business , apologies to Him/Her for not being able to patronize
their place of business any longer because of the no gun policy. Then leave quietly

I agree that you kindly talk to management that you are unable to use the business due to 30.06. I wrote to AMC 24 Theaters at Willowbrook mall in Houston a year or two ago and, although I won't know what my specific letter did, they took down the 30.06 signage. Sometimes all it takes is one (or one more) letter or person to say something for the owner to realize their mistake in posting "target rich" signage.
