Kimber Covert Pro II
So I have the gun lust bad for this one. Played with it up at DFW today. I like the fact that it is lighter and 4" for a carry piece. Was talkin to a knowledgable guy at Elm Fork this evening about it. He was adamant that a 4" 1911 was not as reliable as a fuill size. Very adamant.
Does anyone own this piece? Anyone have any experience with it. I would have to sell my custom II to afford it and actually, I would rather have TFO's on it instead of what it comes with.
Any feedback?

I've read about issues with the smaller 1911's from time to time, but I've also read about issues with just about every gun made. My personal experiance with small 1911's has been very positive. So much so that I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another. I've had a Kimber Ultra Carry and a commander sized gun. But were very reliable and fun to shoot. I don't personally know anyone that has had problems with them. If you want it, buy it.

Me too. I own 4 1911s and each one can be finicky about ammo, and the finickiness increases as barrel length decreases. With the multitude of types of 45 ammo, if you can't find one that your 1911 likes then you might have a lemon.rx9790 wrote:I have the Kimber Ultra Carry in 3.5" and a Kimber Pro CDP in 4" and they have never missed a beat. There are two points to consider:
1. The gun will run and run and run. You'll be happy.
2. The gun won't run. Kimber will make it right. You'll be happy.
I carry a Kimber Tactical Ultra II. It's got a 3" barrel. No problems. I have a Kimber Stainless Gold Match II. It's got a 5" barrel. No problems. When I can afford one I will buy a commander (4 1/4" barrel) size Kimber.
Some folks have had problems with Kimbers and will never own another one. To each his own. I guess I've been lucky with mine. Chances are if you buy that Kimber, you'll be happy.

I have 2 1911s that I carry. Govt length SA 1911-A1 Loaded & my Kimber Pro II. Both run w/o a prob. When I go to a 3" it will be a Springer EMP in the 9mm. I like the looks of that little one.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

I have a commander size Para and couple full size ( Colt and Kimber) never had issues. My favorite 1911 carry is colt officer's model. I had intial feeding problems because of the mags. When I swtich to Tripp and Wilson Combats mags it was flawless..

I have heard horror stories about the compact size 1911s and I believe all of them. The 1911 mytic however is much stronger and so mystifying you got to experience owning at least one ( LOL.. be ready for the the 2nd, 3rd and 4th)..

Thanks LT.. I believe they are carbon fiber. This is an old pic, I just had novak night sights installed on this baby.. You will love it plus I had wooden finger grips that looked good but had to take it off because it is too thick/heavy for carry. Nice feel for range use though..longtooth wrote:Good lookin grips Rey
