Hi all,
Has anyone actually handled a 1911 with grips of this material? Can it be compared to anything? Any comments on this material for grips?

I have never handled any firerm with ivory grips and at the price they sell for I probably never will. The synthetic ivory makes a very attractive grip that dosen't stimulate the market for real ivory. There has been an international ban of sale of ivory since 1989.

I am pretty sure it has been a ban on importation of new ivory since 1989. Thanks for the suggestion...

How much are they?? Any idea ?? I have a pair cut for a 1911. It was from my father's collection (he passed away 1974..had it since then). It is smooth and very plain. Should I have it checkered and custom fir to my Gold Cup?? Brass monkey, thanks for this thread! Let me know if you have some ball park cost. I am positive this genuine elephant tusk.MoJo wrote:I have never handled any firerm with ivory grips and at the price they sell for I probably never will. Thanks. I did a little research. Mine is exactly like this..

I will try to put it on my Gold Cup Trophy and post a pic. I hesitated to put it on at first because it looks and feel very slippery and kind of too much of a plain Jane to me. I even thought of having a colt logo installed on it and maybe some checkering.

Try nutmeg sports.
Prices vary but they have the best African Elephant Ivory grips and I have two sets. One for my Govt. .38 Super and one for my Kimber UCII.
