Nope I wouldn't unless asked for ID. She's the one getting stopped for the infraction not you.

:iagree: No reason to interject and get involved. Just look at her and say, "shame on you." :rules:

I agree with the above posters. If you are asked for ID, then hand over your LTC (DL would be optional). Otherwise, just keep it in your wallet.

You are required to present your CHL whenever you asked to present your license or ID when carrying. To present either your licence or CHL is not only not required but inappropriate.

FWIW- My instructor said if you are passenger and the LEO asks you how you're doing then you are required to present LTC.

What the law says

"GC §411.205. REQUIREMENT TO DISPLAY LICENSE.
If a license holder is carrying a handgun on or about the license holder’s person
when a magistrate or a peace officer demands that the license holder display
identification, the license holder shall display both the license holder’s driver’s
license or identification certificate issued by the department and the license
holder’s handgun license."

Wait for them to ask for ID as explained above. I'm thinking if they ask you to step out of the car you might want to let them know before you exit the vehicle.

If he asks you for ID only then do you have to submit your LTC. Unless you commit a violation like not wearing your seatbelt you can polity refuse to ID.

Almost every episode of Cops shows how well refusing to ID works out for a passenger :smash:

I'm a LEO and I've asked for ID and had passengers refuse. I'll ask why they are refusing and most just say because I can. It's well within your rights to do so and I leave it at that. I'm sure some had warrants but they will get caught eventually.

Only I think this is "confirmation bias" in that it wouldn't make a very interesting episode if the mullet coiffed passenger didn't fumble with a crack stem and an eightball before falling out of the car... :smilelol5:

Actually it works out worse for some people when they willfully ID when they had no obligation to.

Same goes for them not keeping their mouth shut when officers are questioning them.

But of course, the ones who flex their rights by refusing to ID (as passenger) or remain silent don't make good TV so they are never shown.

I've see a lot of episodes of cops and not once have I seen someone lawfully refuse to ID. I'm sure it happens, but they don't show it on TV, probably because it doesn't often lead to an arrest or drama enough for TV.
