Anybody here owns RIA/HI-STANDARD/ARMSCOR 1911s ??

Post by Reysc »

I am just wondering..I picked up a nice hard chromed RIA last week and this afternoon I got to put 100 rounds or so thru it.. Flawless!! Just finished cleaning it and I am really impressed w/ the tightness/fit of this gun. Let me qualify this observation. I am a 1911 newbie. I have just been in 1911's for just over a year and currently owns two colts, a kimber,a Para LTC, Hi-Standard and now a RIA. I have been very lucky w/ my 1911s though, withe the exception of my Colt Combat that had feeding problems earlier (solved by mags updrades) ,they all are flawless shooters.
So I am wondering if any of you owns any of the subject guns and have had the same positive experience that I have ?? Your thoughts ??

Thanks,
Rey

Pretty much all I hear are good things on these RIA pistols.

I also have the AO Thompson's 45 1911 A1 model same thing never shoot it either just a lube job and back in the box............a gift  for one of my son-inlaws for Christmas this December.

RIA, Hi Standard, Charles Daily, and several others are made by Armscor in the Philippines. Armscor is the largest gun maker in the Philippines. The STI Spartan is built in the Philippines by Armscor frames, slides, and barrels with STI internals. I own one of the Spartans it has performed flawlessly.

The "New" (Khar) Thompson 1911s are another sleeper in the 1911 world.

Ahhhh! The STI Spartan.. Yes, I got my eyes on those, too.One thing w/ those guns are they are good quality and relatively inexpensive due to the very inexpensive labor in the Philippines then factor in currency exchange (peso vs.dollar) and you've got a very affordable 1911!!

I have a 5" govt model. I just love it. We have pretty much a "full" steel silhouette range at our range. The thing that really got me happy about the gun was banging steel pigs at 100 yards with iron sights.
I was laughing out loud like a ten year old, cause it was so easy and so much fun.

OK, here's mine!

You know what I am thinking ?? I am tempted to trade my Colt Combat 1991A1 w/ novak style night sights, carbon fiber grips, wilson's trigger/hammer/beavertail for an equally equipped /or close commander size STI/Spartan or RIA.Hmmm.. Maybe it's time to have a cocktail
