DPD: Suspect Killed Man Who May Have Robbed Wife

Post by Dougmyers5 »

(CBS 11 News) DALLAS Police say a Dallas man may have taken the law into his own hands Sunday.

Officers are talking to him about the shooting death of a man who may have robbed his wife one day before.

Police say a man in his 30's was shot down in front of an apartment complex on Forest Lane near LBJ. He later died at the hospital.

"The suspect's wife was robbed last night of her cell phone by three individuals. Sunday afternoon, she pointed out one of those individuals to her husband," said Sgt. Eugene Reyes with the Dallas Police Department.

Witnesses say the shooting happened in the middle of the day.

"I heard only three shots," said witness Kevin Hicks. "I went back in to secure myself."

The shooter, according to witnesses, stayed at the scene and said the shooting was self defense.

However, police say several witnesses approached them saying the shooter was on the opposite side of the street than the victim. Police don't know whether the victim had a gun or displayed one.

"We recovered some guns, we just don't know who they belonged to right now," said Sgt. Reyes.

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961
