Would one of these signs give you pause?

Post by mdubtx »

I initially grabbed a couple of quick pics with an intention to ask if they would apply to an entire city park or only the posted wooded area [and not the paved trail through it.] But after having reading the signs again, they are a non-issue. I am still posting though as an example of signs we can come across.

I ran into these signs along a city park trail and initially worried about the mention of USACE:

The first sign makes no mention of ownership. However, the second clearly sates "...owned by the City of..." I also searched the Facility List for Recreation.gov and found no mention of the park name. Since it is not CoE land, no longer a concen.

Unless I missed it, the wooden sign is all that is visible if you approach from the east [with multiple postings of the metal sign from the west.] With only the information on the wooden sign, it reads to me like a possibility of the land being CoE and off limits. No official looking USACE sign with the castles on it though. Would anyone else give the pictured wooden sign a second thought if you came across it unexpectedly?
May we never haver to draw but always be prepared.

No. The signs in and of themselves would not give me pause as written. However, I would be very interested in reading the regs that allow the COE to make restrictive designations of city owned property.

I would not have carried past the wood sign without further investigation/information since ACE lands are still, inexplicably, off limits.
I would likely have carried past the second sign.
