The life of a single action
I have recently gotten into the world of single actions. Since acquiring my (old model) Ruger Vaquero in 357. I have already gone shooting twice in two weeks throwing 150 rounds down range and only stopped because I ran out! There's just something about shooing that gun. The fact that you have to slow down and cock the hammer. The way you have to load one by one and and eject one by one. The whole manual of arms makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Heck I've even OC'd the gun a couple times. Soon I'll find some nice grips to go with it. It's so easy to shoot and be accurate with. Pretty much just point and shoot. At least for me it works that way. I've always shot large revolvers better than any other pistol. I suspect that to be the case with a lot of people although some can't get the hang of it. I am addicted now....

Oh ya I've watched him a time or two

Most of his videos contain very good information, one of the few on youtube that you can trust to give you an unbiased look at things.rotor wrote:If you are not familiar with Paul Harrell you might enjoy this...

I agree. I also like Hickock 45 for the like reason. Several of the "big" gun youtubers get on my nerves and it's their way or the highway. A smart man once said if you want advice ask one person if you want an opinion ask everybody else.

I have Ruger Vaquero in 357 too. It is one of my favorites to go to the range with also. It slows you down and is just fun to shoot.

I've been sizing up a Vaquero or Uberti '73 myself as I want to start getting into SASS. The mechanical workings of the single action, lever action and pump action firearms have always appealed to me as well.

I love my pump and lever guns. I have always liked a manual of arms that really is an experience

I'm a black powder guy. I just love that bang and cloud of smoke. I have four cap and ball revolvers, two of which I converted to cartridges. I load my own 45 Colt cartridges and shot shells with BP, and use that for SASS shooting.
