Thrall, Texas, Police Chief Responds to Art Acevedo

I graduated from Thrall High School in 1970 and have not had any real association with the town since. Still, I like the way Thrall Police Chief Whitworth thinks.

I have followed Chief Acevedo for many years and respect his experience and years of service but this is disheartening. I too am sickened by the loss of lives due to gun violence, reckless driving, drunk driving, suicide, drug overdose, child abuse and many other ways lives are lost. I never recall the Chief unfriending drunk drivers, human traffickers, drug dealers or law breakers in general, only lawful gun owners and those that stand up for them. I know I do not have the years of experience or the education that Chief Acevedo has but I was a gun owner long before I was a badge carrier and I will defend that right with my last breath if required.

I don't know if you left the first sentence out on purpose, I thought I would post it anyway. I also like what he said.

For those that may not be aware the Chief of Police of the largest city in Texas refuses to be your Facebook friend if you support the 2nd amendment and gun ownership.

A. is just another lib/socialist/commie parading as an LEO.

He forgot he doesn't rule - though he'd sure like to...

He comes from a country where only LEO and military have guns and they line you up against a wall and murder you. Common citizens have no rights. He is a Cuban by birth and apparently still believes that the rest of us should have no rights.

Most APD officers I knew pretty thoroughly hated Acevedo.

I've always thought Acevedo had higher aspirations.

Also, he can't unfriend the drunk drivers, imagine all the politicians he'd have to unfriend....
