A San Antonio Police Department sergeant and two probationary officers responded to a residence where the parents said their 27 yo son was throwing things and causing a ruckus. The cops went to the son's bedroom where he fired a shotgun at them. The probes ran away. The sergeant returned fire and killed the son. The chief fired the probies.

The chief did the only reasonable thing to do. That type of reaction out of the probes certainly puts other officers with them at risk. Yup I agree with the chief that they should seek another profession.

Good call Chief!
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Never a good idea to call the police, when a love one goes out of control at home. Best to leave and come back the next day.

Never a good idea to let your occasionally out of control loved one have access to weapons.

Just a suggestion.

In general I agree, both points are sound advice.

See, more family members that have a disturbed family member with a gun and the solution is for law abiding gun owners to have more worthless gun control forced on them.
