California

Kills a police officer.

Sounds like from the story he grabbed the officers rifle by reaching inside his car.

He had his own AR in his own car. Felon in possession.
Some unconfirmed online discussion that it may have been a "Ghost" gun (homemade or made from an unfinished lower).

The CHP decided to impound the truck and a tow had been called when the driver reached into the back of his pickup — apparently to retrieve personal items — but instead grabbed a rifle and opened fire, authorities said..

I don't want to mix up threads but the police shooter in the current Philadelphia story also had a rifle and a long rap sheet. I predict that if either of them got their weapons from a legal source, we will hear about it. If not, that part of the stories will get buried.

[sarc]If only there was a law saying felons aren't allowed to have guns. Oh well, lets just take all the guns away from law abiding citizens. That will help.[\sarc]

That’s why I started this thread, two incidents where convicted felons killed or wounded police officers with guns that they had illegally.

Press writes like if we had a law stopping an honest citizen from having a gun this would immediately stop.
