Best store bought Jerky- asking for a friend

Post by philip964 »

Available in Houston area.

Got a friend on the Keto diet. I want to get him good beef jerky.

I’ve heard Buckies jerky is pretty good.

Any suggestions?

Honestly the best is our homemade jerky. Academy sells really great marinade. (We like the dr. Pepper) Slice your meat, soak overnight and then either smoke or just put in the oven to dehydrate. But yes, buckey makes some really good stuff.

Buc-ee’s Mesquite Peppered is my favorite.

I like Robertson’s. Th e hard keto folks swear Dukes Original. It can be found at most Sam’s, Costco, and I believe I have seen it in WalMart.

+1 for bucees.

The lemon pepper or bohemian garlic is our go to. They have a venison sausage as well that's pretty good. Plenty of flavors to choose from and if you go to the bulk jerky counter you can try it before you buy it.

I can't speak to the health (sodium/preservatives) but Bucees and Old Trapper are my two favorites.

Rudolph's Meat Market in Dallas has the best. It's a little pricey but well worth it

Buc-ee's would require a drive. Walmart near me. I will certainly check this out. May still go to Buc-ee's, no idea there were flavors.

I bought this one time, IIRC, was pretty good, don't ask what kind of roadkill beef it is ...
I can't find sailrabbit jerky, those flat roadside rabbits are already thin enough to use as frisbees make good jerky I bet.

Hard Times beef jerky sold in a lot of stores and gas stations, is pure beef, no sugars added, etc. it’s one of my two favorite jerkies. I like my jerky real dry .... none of that sugar-infested glop sold by the big names.

There is a relatively new store that I have seen in League City [Houston area] called Beef Jerky Outlet.
I haven't been there yet. They have a website. They seem to have a very wide selection, but I don't see any prices listed.

Definitely check the ingredients. Sugar is a main ingredient in many beer jerky offerings.

Sugar. That is a no no for Keto!

Hard times, no sugar, got it.

Thanks for the tips.
