Robber broke into an occupied house with a shotgun late at night.

Security cameras show him waking the mom and dad from bed in their pajamas while their children sleep.

He had applied for a job at their landscaping business and thought they had money.

He got $20 and two cell phones from the couple and left.

Got to his car and realized he forgot his car keys back in the house. Returned and met the dad inside with a knife who started stabbing him. He shot and killed him, when the wife screamed he killed her too. Got his keys and left.

Apparently the dad did not have a gun at home.

What a horrible feeling it must be to realize having a firearm in your home is all that can save you and not having one. I have had firearms all my life and cannot even imagine how they must have felt when that realization hit them.

Part of me feels sympathy and part of me does not. Its a shame that we cannot be safe in our own home but there has always been evil people in the world and there always will be. People need to get there head out of the sand and realize that they alone are responsible for their own safety. The 911 mentality will get you killed. Quit depending on others for your safety.
