Wow, very nice work Charles. I'm a little late to the game on this one, however I'm ON IT!
I'd love to see the crime statistics comparing CHL's to Texas law enforcement. Great stuff. Keep it up guys. Calling my rep now.

Glad you're there. Are you in the gallery or elsewhere doing something useful?
Although the prom invitation was a nice touch.

Re: Hey everyone, first post long time watcher.
Why is it assumed to be a either or issue?
1. Work to install a more 2A-Friendly Chairman next session.
2. Work to move all positive legislation forward, regardless of who's chairman.
I do agree with this. Didn't mean in my post, this session, getting rid of Pickett. Just meant, going forward ...

Re: Hey everyone, first post long time watcher.
What did Speaker Straus' office say the most recent time you called and requested that someone else chair the House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee?
Also, I'm not sure what it takes to change committee chairmanship during a session. What is that procedure?
EDIT: Glad you joined the ...

Re: Gun Carry Question
I wonder if it changes things though that we own the property. It is our building.
I don't think so. The law doesn't specify ownership, just that it's a school.
However...

The House is in lunch recess until 1:11 p.m., when it will finish the local & consent calendar items (6 more items).
Looks like this means the committee won't meet until after they adjourn after that.

Re: Major Explosion in the town of West
I've been stuck watching coverage. Time to get some sleep.
Praying for the people of West and all the responders.
Side note: now I'm hungry for kolaches. (Not making light of the situation. Just the main association many of us have with West.)

Agreed, their reaction was odd. Glad it all went well for you otherwise.
I have to add -- the last time I went to the capitol was with a school group, and it felt really weird not going through the CHL line that time.

Tornado, I do too, but we can keep it locked in vehicle in parking lot. I'm assuming you carry anyway, (wink, wink). Several of us took our class together and have CHLs, but nobody is brave (or stupid) enough to try and get the policy changed. :grumble

Re: Bifold Id holder - giveaway?
Am I missing something here? I was unaware we are supposed to be ashamed of having a CHL. I don't go around flashing it to everyone, but I don't care if someone sees it or knows I carry legally. BTW, I keep my right behind my DL.
I work someplace that carrying is not illegal but is against policy ...
