My solution: DON'T ever live in a place managed by an HOA. No American / Texas / US Army / San Jacinto flags, no outdoor charcoal grills or smokers, no loud Radio Margaritaville in the driveway, NO FUN! That's all I need, another level of 'government' telling me what I can and can't do. Folks who live in such places may enjoy the freedom from maintenance and repair chores, but those things are still paid for in other ways, with the loss of other freedoms. No, thanks.

You may want to check out section 202.012 of the Texas Property Code. HOAs in Texas cannot restrict owners from having American/Texas/US military flag, but can make rules on how they are displayed. Basically, the flags must be displayed in accordance with Texas law and US flag code, etc. If your HOA is saying you cannot fly the flag no matter what, they are violating state law.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, carry on!
