I was driving through a construction zone today and they had a small grass fire along the side of the road. The workers had a pretty good handle on it but I stopped by the fire station to report it.
My question is did I have to disarm? It wasn't posted but I wasn't sure
Can you carry at the fire department?

State/Local government owned facility...they can't post so you are OK to carry.

Re: Can you carry at the fire department?
A bill was introduced last session for a CHL-FR. It was designed to allow First Responders the ability to CC while on-duty and in uniform anywhere a peace officer could. I don't believe it came out of committee. Working in EMS, I can assure you when you enter into a fire station, the vast majority are pro 2A. A perp attempting to "disrupt" the day of an EMS station may find out quickly just how bad an idea it was.

Not all fire stations are government owned. Many volunteer fire departments are incorporated non-profit entities that own their land, buildings, and equipment, like mine, although there are some that occupy government-owned buildings. We are under contract to the county to provide services in our district, but we are not a county entity. Theoretically we could post the building...but I don't see that happening any time. Like Daddio-on-the-patio said, I expect the vast majority of FF/EMS, especially volunteers, to be 2A proponents.ScottDLS wrote:State/Local government owned facility...they can't post so you are OK to carry.
I do wish the bill about first responders had passed. I understand the argument about "special" classes of LTC holders...except that was breached long ago for others...
