Can you carry at the fire department?

Post by Richbirdhunter »

I was driving through a construction zone today and they had a small grass fire along the side of the road. The workers had a pretty good handle on it but I stopped by the fire station to report it.

My question is did I have to disarm? It wasn't posted but I wasn't sure

A bill was introduced last session for a CHL-FR. It was designed to allow First Responders the ability to CC while on-duty and in uniform anywhere a peace officer could. I don't believe it came out of committee. Working in EMS, I can assure you when you enter into a fire station, the vast majority are pro 2A. A perp attempting to "disrupt" the day of an EMS station may find out quickly just how bad an idea it was. :patriot:

Not all fire stations are government owned. Many volunteer fire departments are incorporated non-profit entities that own their land, buildings, and equipment, like mine, although there are some that occupy government-owned buildings. We are under contract to the county to provide services in our district, but we are not a county entity. Theoretically we could post the building...but I don't see that happening any time. Like Daddio-on-the-patio said, I expect the vast majority of FF/EMS, especially volunteers, to be 2A proponents.

I do wish the bill about first responders had passed. I understand the argument about "special" classes of LTC holders...except that was breached long ago for others...
