Ted Cruz would be the most Constitutional Justice outside of Scalia, but, at least for now, I'd rather see him stay where he is, to battle the Left and the Rhinos. He is one of the few politicians who went to Washington and did exactly what he said he would do, no matter which side of the aisle is offended.

Cruz has accomplished nothing because he won't work with anyone. It's his way or no way, so he accomplishes nothing. On the Supreme Court, he would be in a position to restore the Constitution to the law of the land.

Chas.
Cruz: great ideology and poor execution. A poor Senator, a great Justice.

Do you really think he can be trusted, Charles? I don't, but you know far more about such things than I do.

Cruz is hard line Constitution. He won't work with folks that want to compromise the Constitution. As a SCOTUS judge he can and will do just that. He was and is a very good Senator, sometimes stopping or slowing down stupidity is the best that can be done.

Remember, as a Senator he is a politician. As a politician he must keep in mind that "Politics is the art of the possible". You can stand on principle and not accomplish anything because no-one will stand with you, or you can achieve movement in the desired direction through carefully working with others and making principled compromises.

Law and the courts is very much more amenable to standing on principle. You are arguing why something is right, per your principles, and why the law ought to be interpreted in that way. I think he would be a much better SC justice, one in the mold of Scalia, than a Senator.

A Cruz nomination would be brilliant. His logic and defense of the Constitution before the Supreme Court has been flawless even by his detractors. In the meantime, he has been a pain in the donkey's buttocks. He can be easily be replaced without causing disruption in the Republican party or the Senate. Democratic Senators, as well as many Republicans, will be glad to be rid of him. A nomination by Trump will demonstrate a willing to co-operate forgive and solve problems. It would be a win for everyone. Well except for the statist left wing revisionist

Gov. Abbott could back fill Cruz's senate seat until a special election could be called, I can live with that!

I just heard that Trump offered Hillary a position in his administration. The open position of Ambassador to Libya in Benghazi!

Thanks for all the input! Great discussion of opinions. Now if only the rest of America could be as civil discussing politics as we are on the forum!

Oh my lord.....can you imagine if that actually happened? Can you imagine what the ATF would be with Ted in charge? Somehow there has to be a way to suggest this to the Trump administration <oh my lord, I can actually write that as factual..

I agree. Cruz understands the issues and the Constitution, and his position on how the Constitution should be interpreted is correct down the line. He has experience in arguing cases before the Supreme Court. He could be helpful in guiding the court in the right direction. He does not appear to have the right temperament to work with others in a legislative body; I don't know whether that would be a problem on the SCt.

While I was disappointed in Cruz's initial failure to endorse the republican nominee, given the personal nature of some of the campaign attacks on Cruz and his family, I can understand the difficulty he had in doing so.

I agree. We need someone very young and conservative who can stay in for a long long time. Unfortunately, I am not sure that he'd get a confirmation.
The thing is most of the Senate would be glad to be rid of him. :biggrinjester:
You are absolutely right. The Senate would confirm him in record time!

Trump selects climate skeptic to head EPA transition team.

This is not necessarily the guy who will have the EPA, it's the guy in charge of the team to find a guy to head to EPA as well as set it's policies. He may very well end up as head of the EPA though.

Warning: the linked article has trump's one word opinion of the climate change movement, an opinion that coincides with mine, but it's not one that would make it through this forum's language filter.

I just hope he picks competent people who are not part of the establishment for his cabinet. If he surrounds himself with establishment advisors, he will only get the kind of advice that caused the current mess.
