(SOLD) 402 Rds 45 ACP Ammo

Post by tarbe »

I bought this ammo as part of a package deal to help out a friend who is having some financial difficulty.

I got the ammo at a discount and will sell it at a discount. Total round count is 402.

Consists of 229 rounds of 230gr ball practice ammo, all Winchester except one box of Federal American Eagle. The Winchester ammo has '97 headstamp, so it is not exactly "fresh".

Also have 173 rounds of high-end defensive/personal protection ammo as follows:

53 rounds Cor-Bon 200gr HP +P
40 rounds Federal Hyra-Shok 230gr HP
40 rounds Winchester Supreme SXT 230 HP
40 rounds Winchester Silvertip 185gr HP

The bad: I just took possession of this ammo and have no idea how it was stored, other than I was told it spent several years in a commercial storage facility that was not climate controlled. I would not personally use any of it for carry...only practice.

I shoot a 45 GAP, so this ammo is available. Vastly prefer ftf deal if possible, within driving distace of Houston. If no one in the immediate area wants it, I will expand!

I will let the whole pile go for $100. I think this ought to make someone's day.... :patriot:

If you get up for shipping I'd like to shoot it!

If not, and I know it's a pain to ship, thanks anyway! I won't be disappointed if a local guy shows up today; his luck.

Correct me if I am wrong...I think loaded ammo has to go UPS or other common carrier, and a hazmat fee applies?

I know when I get powder or primers shipped that is the drill.

Addison is DFW, right?

Yes, Addison is north Dallas.
No hazmat fee but it does have to go UPS or similar.
I get ammo all the time UPS just marked with a sticker.
Powder and primers take a hazmat but not ammo.
You'll have a local guy ( I was editing my message when you entered yours).

Small arms ammunition, as defined in 49 C.F.R. § 173.59, will be transported only when packaged and labeled in compliance with 49 C.F.R. § 172 regarding hazardous materials shipments.

According to UPS, shipping ammunition is allowed, but there are some stipulations. The stipulations are not put in place by UPS, but instead, by the Department of Transportation.

You could print this for the box

This is the critical part to shipping ammunition. If it is 50 caliber or less, or 8 gauge or less, UPS will take the shipment in a sturdy box marked with a ORM-D, Cartridges, Small Arms label on the outside of the box. UPS does recommend using this label as opposed to a regular ORM-D label from our research and inquiries to UPS themselves. Part 172, subchapter E states the label should be affixed near the shipping address location on the package. By placing it here, the carrier will see it as they direct the package to the correct location during shipment.

Sounds like fun! ;-)

If you get up for it; I'll take it! If not, thanks! Sounks like a lot of trouble.

The funny thing, as you see on your shipments if you get loaded ammo, is Natchezss.com, midwayusa.com etc do not use the cartridge sticker they us a plain ORM-D sticker.

===================

United Parcel Service (UPS):

1. Pack ammo within a sturdy cardboard box, gross weight limit of 66 pounds.
2. Print ORM-D label, cut out and tape to a least one side of box.
3. Take package to a UPS Customer Center only - NOT at Drop-Off Box, The UPS Store, Mail Boxes etc., Sonic. Might be a good idea to have the UPS Hazardous Material Support Center number with you -- 800-554-9964. Varied success with UPS pick-up at your location.

Per UPS:
UPS accepts domestic ground shipments of ammunition that have been classified by the shipper as "Cartridges, small arms", "ORM-D" (Other Regulated Material). The package must be properly marked according to the requirements of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR). Contact the Hazardous Material Support Center at 800-554-9964 for details on regulatory information.
