Stainless.

While stainless is to some degree resistant to rust, it will rust.

I was shocked when I saw rust had formed under the grips of my Kimber Eclipse Pro.

Another time, after wearing my Ruger SP101, enough sweat had gotten inside to rust frozen the cylinder latch.

People choose different finishes for various reasons, but as I stated previously, there is no other finish that can compare to Black T for corrosion protection.

Can't say what's best, but the combo of stainless steel topped with "Tungsten DLC" that came on my Kahr PM9 holds up like new year after year.

Walter Birdsong, who passed away last year, developed Black T and Green T. He never advertised nor had a web site, since his government contracts kept him busy.

Still, he accepted outside work with reasonable turnaround. I believe his family is still operating the business.

Mythical?! Why, sir, you are referring to the German-made Glock 7, a fine pistol and has at least a standard 30 round capacity before even needing reloading.

I have 6 of them in a variety of beautiful pastel colors, but I'd lose my man card if I was ever seen with them in public. So they stay in a safe, never to be seen again.

There are all different grades of stainless. Some will rust and some won't 304ss definately will. In the 70's one of the gun publications took the grips off of a Smith & Wesson Mod. 66 (I think) and took it to the beach and left in salt water and sand for a couple of months. When they came back it was pretty nasty looking but it wasn't rusty. They cleaned it up and put the grips back on and shot it. And it looked like new. I think their point was that the whole gun and all its parts were stainless.

I had this guy do a makarov for me. He guarantees it to never rust. I've since sold the mak so I can't tell you what it looks like now. It did look nice for an old mak.

The advantage of stainless is that the insides can be rust resistant also. and likes being scuffed and dinged.

The finish on the gun you shoot the best..... If it is a carry gun it is bound to get some wear no matter what finish is on it, keep it cleaned and lightly oiled and have it with you at all times, when the finish starts to wear a bit it is considered "character" treat it well and it will be there for you.............

I like Black-T. Wouldn't mind trying out Ion-Bond.

Stainless or "GLOCKified" work great.

Also, those other finishes like hard chrome and nickel do well too, but you pay for it.
