Well, I just spent the day up here, partially for my in person interview. It's everything I miss about San Francisco, with a much better type of individuality, aswell as better gun laws.

Wish me luck, we'll see how things go.

Good luck Nitrogen.

If you previously lived in San Francisco, then the Seattle cost of living shouldn't shock you. Is definitely between Texas and San Fran (then again that pretty much defines 95%+ of the country).

I did the opposite. Born in Washington, raised mostly in the Seattle area (with a short stint in Portland, and an even shorter stint in So Cal). Moved to Houston a little over 3 years ago for a great job, especially considering the cost of living difference. I left Microsoft, so not like my previous job was all that shabby. Of course, the same house here costs less than half what it cost there, so thats definitely a huge draw.

Most of my family is still in the Seattle area, and I love the area. I just hate the politics. During the last administration, "Impeach Bush" signs were in just about every yard in certain neighborhoods. I am of a somewhat different political persuasion than most of the folks there. Again, if you were able to tolerate San Fran, that should be no concern whatsoever. Another area where Seattle is between Texas and San Francisco.

Feel free to PM me if you want tips on restaurants, places to look for housing, etc.

I hope the interview was successful and you get a good offer. Are you applying for a WA license while you're there?

Too bad his license isn't from OK. WA recognizes OK CHL but not Texas. :woohoo

As far as I can tell, the interview went well. We'll see if it went well enough to get things going.

I didn't have time to get my license stuff going while I was there.

Katygunnut: My politics are different from about everyones, so I always feel ostrasized wherever I go. For instance, I was all about the "impeach bush" thing, but for different reasons than most liberals (what he did to our deficit primarily) I consider myself a liberal, but what I wish more liberals were (pro gun, pro religious freedom, etc) as well as pro liberty, even for groups i may not like or may not be popular

Hmmm, it sounds like you and I may have similar politics. I consider myself a Conservative Libertarian, because I am basically a Libertarian but in the areas where I deviate from that philosophy I agree with the Conservatives. Don't get me wrong, I didn't love Bush, I just didn't think that he should be impeached. My main area of disagreement with alot of my Seattle neighbors related to things like the forced redistribution of wealth by the government, etc.
