I am like 6'6" tall and have the best jacket I have ever owned, it's from Duluth Trading co. It is long enough to cover my butt and has heavy duty snaps down the front, its made of fire hose canvas witch is waterproof and very high quality. I love everything I have ever picked up from Duluth Trading co. Check them out my favorite coat is at http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens ... 14007.aspx
they also have great long t shirts http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens ... 95587.aspx
Its not cheap but there stuff lasts a long time and a lot of it is American made

On Garland road, about 1.5 miles south of NW Highway, on south side of road, close to Centerville I think.

you would look like a BMF with a jacket like that and a potential assassin

I just think it's good looking and functional... how I look in it is secondary
I've found a jacket or two that were copied from the game, but being replicas makes me wonder about the quality. I'm going shopping when I come home...
One of my biggest problems with jackets is getting a sleeve length that works well on me. A few years ago I found a Harbor Bay leather one in 3XLT at Casual Male XL. Finding one in Tall size was tough, but it is long enough in the sleeves & easily covers even a fullsize M9.

There used to be a good Army/Navy store right around Beltline & 75, on the northwest corner somewhere I think. I haven't been over there in years so I don't know if it's still there or not. The one I check out a few times a year now is just south of Valwood on the southbound side of I-35E.

As you are looking, another term often used for the longer length jacket is a car coat. Just long enough to cover a sport coat but short enough to allow you to cimb into a truck or car without tangling your legs. I have the traditional brown canvas with a leather trim collar, from LL Bean I think. It came from DU auction, but I am sure there would be somethng similar at Cabela's or Bass Pro. Good luck.

I cannot really help but I remember in the day when just about everyone around where I lived had a "car coat". I would describe as a much shorter overcoat. It would have been perfect for CC, but back then there was no such thing as a CHL.
I like the military field jackets and still have mine, but I prefer not to stand out or draw attention to myself.

Finally found what I was looking for. My mom mailed me my old German Field Jacket I used to wear in High School. This will do for now. Can't beat the price of "free". The sleeves are slightly small and its a tiny bit tight in the shoulders when the thick liner is installed, but the material is super comfortable and with the liner its way too warm for TX Winters.

Looks a little hipster to me... which is good, since nobody likes them anyway

I owned it before there were hipsters. I get a hipster exemption card I think. Besides who would guess a Hipster was carrying 15+1 rounds of JHP 9mm?
