My billfold only has slots for various cards, so I keep my bank cards on one side and my IDs on the other. I once absentmindedly had my CHL to a cashier instead of my bank card. She smiled, handed it back and said, “no hon, I need money.” Once I realized what I handed her I felt myself turn red from embarrassment and quickly handed my debit card over. She just laughed at me.

I am young looking and my voice also seems to make people think i am younger, I turn 30 this year, but still get carded for tobacco. Sometimes i admit the clerk is just stupid, one would think a well groomed beard and five year old in tow would clue them in I just might be over 18. So anyway I do have to pull out my Id frequently.

has anyone ever had a problem from a clerk or "next in line " shopper spotting their CHL?

This sorta segways to another question: How have yall handled questions from people that either spot your ChL or make you for carrying, or even from a friendly CHL holder that lacks shall we say, discretion.

Im goin to go about with the plan that concealed means CONCEALED so i shouldnt run into either of these issues, but out of curiosity, I thought I'd pose the preceeding questions.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about it. So few people will notice and almost none of them will care.

For what it's worth...

I keep my ID's in my standard wallet, one with a clear window pocket.

In the pocket, stacked in this order are my State ID, a printed business card stating "I am a Texas CHL Holder and I am armed. My companions are unaware of this fact, and I'd prefer the not know--any discretion you can offer would be appreciated," right behind that is my CHL, followed by my DL and insurance card.

I am often in situations (driving coworkers, etc.) where an "outing" wouldn't be too cool...i've never had occasion to actually USE that business card, but I figure it's worth a shot. Nobody gets my drivers license unless it's (A) LEO, and (B) driving related--otherwise it's the state ID.

I have the state ID as a separate form of ID for those occasions when I have to "leave it behind" to get a key for a building or some such...and the policy of NOBODY getting the DL came about from a store clerk who tried to write down my DL number after ID'ing me for a credit card purchase...you won't get away with copying my ID number either, but at least I don't worry as much about that number since I don't tie it to anything.

Of course, I almost never get "carded" these days either...that makes a difference.

the business card idea is neat, hopefully youll never run into a person that reads aloud everything handed to them!

Why not stick your CHL behind your driver's license? The only time you will need to show it is if you are stopped, and you would then take both ID's out of your wallet and hand them to the nice LEO  ? That takes away all the worries about it showing.

Bifold with CHL behind DL with folded insurance card between them. If I need to hand over all three, they're together, and if I only have to hand over the DL, the insurance card masks the CHL.

Am I missing something here? I was unaware we are supposed to be ashamed of having a CHL. I don't go around flashing it to everyone, but I don't care if someone sees it or knows I carry legally. BTW, I keep my right behind my DL.

I work someplace that carrying is not illegal but is against policy. I keep my mouth (and ID holder) shut.

When I handed mine over instead of a my debit card, I was more embarrased because I felt like an idiot rather than having a CHL. I personally don't care who knows I have a CHL, just don't want them to think I have Alzheimer's.

Tornado, I do too, but we can keep it locked in vehicle in parking lot. I'm assuming you carry anyway, (wink, wink). Several of us took our class together and have CHLs, but nobody is brave (or stupid) enough to try and get the policy changed. :grumble

I work for the state in a state-owned office building. Completely legal, but policy says no for staff & vendors. I don't volunteer to be test case.
