But the number 45 is bigger then the number 38. That makes it better right?

It's been about 30 years since I had a Colt .38 Super and it was one of those I regret getting rid of.

I have a hunch Tracoun may have other interests in mind besides, or in addition to, defensive use.

I always liked the .38 Super, and if loaded properly, exceeds peformance of the 9mm. Most factory loads are down loaded due to fear of them being fired in .38 acp guns.

I love my Ultra Carry II but it's a .45 Let us know how that .38 works out.

Plus, you can load 9X23's with 125gr. PHP's to 1,450 fps easily (higher velocities also) and have one smoking ".357 Mag." in a 1911!

Using Winchester 9X23 brass, you don't even need a ramped barrel. Don't try this with Starline brass, unless you have a ramped barrel.

The 'in addition to' is right. I've recently shot Charle's .38 Super and like it a lot mostly because of better control than my Springfield .45. I want to get better with the .45, but the .38 Super will help until then. It will also be good for me in IDPA matches, in ESP.

Of course, as an NRA Training Counselor, it's my responsibility to be on the lookout for new 'training aids'.

I own a Kimber TLE 2, its a .45 but the work that went into making this gun was great. I carry every day, and have had close to 6k rounds through it now, with only one hiccup that was due to bad magazines. The gun itself is inherently much more accurate than I, and recommend one to anyone interested in a 1911.

On a side not I also have a Colt Combat Commander XSE, while its a good gun, the fit and function of it just seems lesser.

I've been trying to figure out a ".357 level semi" for a while now. That has to be the way to go.
