LOL don't know who you are talking too, but trainees don't need ammo in their guns at the academy expect on the range. This keeps the accidents down.
Im allowed to carry a loaded firearm everywhere else and haven't had a accident.
Yes, but you don't go and do simulated shooting situations everywhere else. There have been cases where police have shot and killed other officers during simulated training because they didn't follow rules to isolate live weapons from the area.

Also, just an observation, but you are not even in the academy yet and complaining about a rule. You will find a lot of rules that you may or may not agree with. You need to approach this with an open mind and with the intent to do what you are directed to or you will not make it through the academy. You will have to put some things aside and do some things you may not like, so just expect it.

I'm not complaining as I have no problem leaving my firearm in my car. I was just wondering what state law he was talking about, nothing more.

If you are referring to me, I'm not talking about any state law and haven't refereed to one. In fact I think you were the one that mentioned somebody can carry at some college but not the academy. Sure you may safely carry with a chl now, but let me remind you that in the academy you will be a trainee. Part of being a trainee as Keith said will be following instructions. You won't be carrying a loaded gun in class expect during live fire exercises. That is a safety issue. You will also be required to do lots of other things that you may not like and even get yelled at. That is part of the drill to graduate and that will then let you test with Tcleose and hopefully get hired some where. As a background investigator we contact the academies to find out how the trainee did, if they followed rules, their attitude ect.

Also remember that a trainee is not exempt from state law for purposes of carrying a loaded firearm.

As a former training officer, I can also say that when trainees graduate they think they know the world about being a cop. We have to set them straight as to how it transpires to the real world. The academy will teach basics, law, ect but then you will need instruction in the field how to really apply what you learned. Hopefully you will find a good dept with a good field training program to set you up for a long career.
