Re: Sign at cinemark
I remember MANY years ago, a group of Marines from my squadron went to see the type of movie that you would not tell your mother about. They got so rowdy that they were asked to leave the establishment. This is the story I heard because (of course) I was not there.........

He probably did, he grew up on a ranch near Archer City. However, I think McMurtry used "Thalia" as the city name in the novel and it was changed to Anarene in the movie, which was filmed in/around the area.jimlongley wrote:I thought it was in 1952 in Anarene TX. I don't think they can press any charges on anyone for bringing in food, but they could certainly ask you to leave and might even be able to go the trespassing route if you refuse to leave.

Can't get much closer to Anarene than Archer City. I do have to wonder why they decided to change it. Maybe because Thalia is actually large enough to be the prototype, while nobody actually lives in Anarene?Boxerrider wrote:He probably did, he grew up on a ranch near Archer City.
