It was a gun show. They are always like that when something new hits the street. Once the buyer's fever burns out the price will drop down to something more reasonable.

I picked one up yesterday. $499.99 at Academy. Shot 50 rounds though it last night. Sweet shooting gun. It will be replacing my S&W Bodyguard 380 once my pocket holster comes in. Shoots very similar to my G30, which I love. Bodyguard trigger just sucks. It is a double action always trigger and seem like it is 2 miles long.
I had no issue with 50 rounds of blazer brass that I put through the G43 but I have never had an issue with any ammo in my G30.
I have had a few light strikes with my bodyguard. So, my confidence in this as a carry gun has been lost. I will put a few hundred through the G43 before I make the switch.

I could only manage 20 rounds of .380 through a Ruger LCP before my hand gets the shakes. Thanks for the review. I will now go out and buy a G43.
tms119 wrote:Saw it available at a range for rent. Immediately rented along with 100 rounds of ball ammo. I was a bit skeptical. But that thing had some light recoil for its size and weight. And weight is definitely the first thing I noticed. That glock is light! And comfortable to boot. It feels like they cut a glock 26 in half and voila you got the glock 43.

Now I readily admit that I am a bit recoil sensitive. After being all excited about my p938 I realized I couldn't put more than 60 rounds down range before my hand would start to shake like crazy. So with that in mind I made sure to put 100 rounds down range with the G43. Well good news is I could have put another 50 to 100 rounds before I would have had a problem with the shakes.

Accuracy was very good too. I had no problem keeping shots in the 8 ring at about 11 yards. And I dont consider myself that good of a shot.

So while I'm loving my xds.....I'm gonna keep an eye out for a g43 now lol.

Well just wanted to throw this out there. Ya'll have a wonderful day!

I had no interest in the Glock 43. And I like Glocks. I have a 21 and 19 both Gen 4's. My G19 is about as good as it gets for my needs. Plus I already several small 9mm (PPS, Nano, MK9 Elite) and some even smaller .380's so why would I need a Glock 43? Waste of money. Plus only 6 rounds? Not impressed. People are just going to buy it because its a Glock. Right?

Then I put one in my hand. I love the 43. Yeah Glock is late to the single stack 9mm game but I think the G43 was done right. Now that there +1/+2 extensions available its not a huge deal on capacity. Its reliable as my other Glocks and a definite keeper. I had a Shield and I think the Shield is an excellent gun but I just didnt like the trigger at all on it nor on the XDs 9mm. Both great guns mind you I just like the G43 so much more than I ever thought I would.

One other thing and I know this is already being debated to death but the G43's (or the G42 for that matter) magazine capacity. 6+1 is seemingly not enough for a lot of people. What about those (Like I do sometimes) that carry a S&W J-frame? Im running around with FIVE rounds and another ten in speed strips. I am very proficient at reloading my revolver but no where near as fast as i am with the G43 (or any semi auto). Its not a big deal to me. If I feel the need for more rounds I will carry my G19.

I think the G43 is a hit.

For those of you with Bodyguards who hate the trigger:

I know, S&W should build a decent trigger to begin with, but the GP trigger kit absolutely transforms the BG. Worth the investment.

I played with a G43 at the LGS a week or two ago. Does it seem like it would work in pockets other than big cargos?

just got back from the range. as to much surprise, no malfunction whatsoever. shoots like a dream even with some +P. i shot a total of 156 rounds,(winchester 115gr. (100FMJ and 50JHP) +6 rounds of hornady critical defense +P, ) for both but more on the 43. only @7yrds and i definitely found myself pulling on the left(more practice). another 100 for the wife this weekend and should be good to go. it's always a great day trying out a new toy!

ps, i actually shot the nano better! so i think i'll hold on to it much longer. lol

tms119 wrote:I would say the recoil is slightly less on the xds 9mm. But I have the 4.0 so I would assume that the 3.3 probably has similar recoil to the glock 43.

If you can shoot the XDS 9mm then you should have no problem with the Glock 43.
The XDS-9 3.3" weighs even more than the XDS-45 3.3" (same barrel OD with smaller barrel ID = heavier barrel = heavier gun), and the XDS-45 3.3" weighs more than the G43 — 21.5 ozs unloaded for the XDS-45 3.3" versus 17.95 oz unloaded for the G43, if the manufacturers are to be believed. The unloaded weight of the XDS-9 3.3" is 23 ozs. Make it an XDS-9 4" like you have, and the weight is 25 ozs. (All weights include an empty magazine.) That makes your 4" XDS-9 a whole 7.05 ozs heavier than the G43.

I love my XDS-45 3.3", but I might well consider a G43......although I likely will not be an early adopter as I've already got a PM9 (15.9 oz unloaded including magazine, so 2 ozs less than a G43) so don't have a pressing need for a pocket 9mm. It's just that my wife's gen3 G19 is kind of growing on me, so if the G43 quality is equivalent to that, then it would be worth investigating for me.

I went back and compared dimensions for all 4 of these pistols:
pocketpistolsizes.png
Clearly, the G43 is smaller and lighter than either of the Springfields, although the Springfield grip width is narrower than the G43 slide, and the XDS slide is narrower yet than its grips. But the King of Small among these 4 pistols is the PM9, and it wins in the weight department too; so it really boils down to which of these 4 guns you think you can best live with.
